AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO EMPLOY AN ASSISTANT COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY; TO PROVIDE FOR THE COMPENSATION OF SUCH ASSISTANT COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

 

SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may provide for and employ one (1) part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney. The part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney shall have the qualifications of a county prosecuting attorney as provided by law and shall be appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Rankin County.

(2) The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County shall determine the amount of and manner in which the part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney shall be compensated; provided, however, that the annual compensation of the part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney shall not exceed Twenty-nine Thousand Dollars ($29,000.00). The part-time county prosecuting attorney shall receive the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per month for the purpose of defraying secretarial expenses.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
