AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TUNICA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE TUNICA COUNTY MUSEUM, INC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING A MUSEUM IN TUNICA COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

 

SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of Tunica County, Mississippi, is hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to contribute, from any available county funds, an amount not to exceed an amount equal to the avails of five (5) mills for calendar years 1998 and 1999, and an amount not to exceed an amount equal to the avails of two (2) mills for calendar years 2000 through 2007, to the Tunica County Museum, Inc. The Board of Supervisors of Tunica County is hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to contract with the Tunica County Museum, Inc., to provide the funding authorized in this section for a period not to exceed ten (10) years. The funds provided to the Tunica County Museum, Inc., pursuant to this section shall be used for the establishment of a public museum in Tunica County, Mississippi, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of land, construction of a museum on such land and the operation and maintenance of the museum facility and exhibitions in such facility.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after June 1, 1998.
