AN ACT TO DECLARE SOUTH INDUSTRIAL PARK IN LAUDERDALE COUNTY TO BE AN INDUSTRIAL PARK OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI; TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF MERIDIAN AND LAUDERDALE COUNTY TO JOINTLY ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT TO CARRY OUT, AND TO COMPLETE, DRAINAGE AND FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE COMPLETE DEVELOPMENT OF SOUTH INDUSTRIAL PARK; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

 

SECTION 1. The property known as South Industrial Park located outside the city limits of the City of Meridian, Mississippi, adjacent to Sowashee Creek in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, is hereby declared to be an industrial park of the City of Meridian.

SECTION 2. The City of Meridian is authorized to sell any of the property in South Industrial Park and any sales of property in the park made by the City of Meridian prior to the effective date of this act are hereby ratified and confirmed.

SECTION 3. The City of Meridian is authorized to apply the proceeds of any sale of the property in South Industrial Park for general city purposes, as may be determined by the governing authorities of the city.

SECTION 4. The City of Meridian and Lauderdale County are hereby authorized and empowered to jointly enter into an agreement to carry out, and to complete, drainage and flood control projects that are essential to the complete development of South Industrial Park.

SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
