AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF QUITMAN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, UPON RECEIVING TITLE TO CERTAIN SCHOOL PROPERTY, TO CONTRACT WITH A PRIVATE COMPANY FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING A SENIOR CITIZEN CARE UNIT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING ASSISTED LIVING SERVICES TO SENIOR CITIZENS LIVING IN QUITMAN COUNTY, WHO FALL BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL OR WHO ARE OTHERWISE QUALIFIED FOR THE SERVICES; TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF QUITMAN COUNTY TO LEASE THE SCHOOL PROPERTY CONVEYED TO IT TO A PRIVATE COMPANY TO BE UTILIZED AS A SENIOR CITIZEN CARE UNIT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Quitman County, Mississippi, upon title to the Falcon School property being transferred to it, is hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to contract with Harmony Medical Alliance, Inc., or any other suitable private company for the purpose of establishing, maintaining and operating a senior citizen care unit for the purpose of providing assisted living services to the senior citizens living in Quitman County, Mississippi, who fall below the poverty level or who are otherwise qualified for such services.

(2) The Board of Supervisors of Quitman County is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to lease the Falcon School property to Harmony Medical Alliance, Inc., or some other private company, for the purpose of providing the services described in subsection (1) of this section.

SECTION 2. In the event that the Board of Supervisors of Quitman County fails to establish a senior care unit, or in the event an established senior care unit no longer operates as a senior citizens care unit providing assisted living services to senior citizens in the Falcon School building and on the Falcon School property, the ownership and title to the building and surrounding property shall revert to the Quitman County School District as provided by the laws of the State of Mississippi.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
