AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF STATE GENERAL FUNDS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE WILDERNESS TRAINING PROGRAM, FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Department of Human Services for the purpose of defraying the expenses to maintain and operate the Wilderness Training Program for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999. . . $1,500,000.00.

SECTION 2. It is the intention of the Legislature that the funds provided herein shall be utilized to the fullest extent possible by the Department of Human Services to ensure not less than one hundred (100) first-time youth offender placements are served for not less than one hundred twenty (120) days during Fiscal Year 1999.

SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
