AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF STATE GENERAL FUNDS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXPANDING THE ADOLESCENT OFFENDER PROGRAM STATEWIDE FROM EIGHT TO FIFTEEN SITES, FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Department of Human Services for the purpose of defraying the expenses to expand the Adolescent Offender Program from eight (8) to fifteen (15) sites for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999 $1,250,000.00.

SECTION 2. It is the intention of the Legislature that the Fiscal Year 1998 funding level provided for the eight (8) existing Adolescent Offender Program sites in Clarksdale, Hattiesburg, Jackson, Natchez, Ocean Springs, Starkville, Tupelo and Vicksburg be continued in Fiscal Year 1999. It is further the intention of the Legislature that the funding provided in this act shall be considered the additional funding required for seven (7) additional Adolescent Offender Program sites.

SECTION 3. The money herein appropriated shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers, in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
