AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ANY COUNTY TO EXPEND FUNDS FOR FOOD AND SUPPLIES USED AT OFFICIAL MEETINGS; TO REQUIRE THE STATE AUDITOR TO ESTABLISH GUIDELINES FOR SUCH EXPENDITURES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The board of supervisors of any county may, in its discretion, pay for food, supplies and related items used at official meetings. An itemized list of such expenditures shall be entered on the minutes of the board. All expenditures must be in compliance with guidelines established by the State Auditor.

(2) The State Auditor shall promulgate guidelines for the expenditure of funds for food, supplies and related items at official gatherings.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
