AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-9-1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT CERTIFICATED SCHOOL EMPLOYEES MAY HOLD A VALID CERTIFICATE OF SCHOOL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ISSUED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF SCHOOL SUPPORT OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 37-9-1, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

37-9-1. For the purposes of this chapter, the terms "superintendent" and "principal" shall have such meanings as are ascribed to them under the provisions of Section 37-19-1. The term "licensed employee" shall mean any other employee of a public school district required to hold either a valid license by the Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Licensure and Development, or a valid Certificate of School Business Administration issued by the Department of School Support of the State Department of Education. The term "non-instructional employee" shall include all employees of school districts other than superintendents, principals and licensed employees.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
