AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 49-15-19, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY THAT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IS THE ATTORNEY FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES IN ADDITION TO THE COMMISSION ON MARINE RESOURCES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 49-15-19, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

49-15-19. The Attorney General shall be counsel and attorney for the commission and department. The Attorney General shall designate one (1) of his deputies or assistants to be counsel and attorney for the commission and department in all actions, proceedings and hearings. The deputy or assistant so designated shall be legal advisor of the commission and department in all matters relating to the commission and department and to the powers and duties of its officers.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
