AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 21-13-1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT EACH DAY OF A VIOLATION OF A MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE IS A SEPARATE OFFENSE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 21-13-1, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

21-13-1. The governing authorities of municipalities shall have the power to pass all ordinances and to enforce the same by a fine not exceeding One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or imprisonment not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both. Each day of a continuing violation is a separate violation.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
