AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONSTRUCT AS FOUR-LANE HIGHWAYS CERTAIN PORTIONS OF MISSISSIPPI HIGHWAYS 27, 18, 28, 24 AND 48; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Mississippi Department of Transportation shall perform preliminary engineering, acquire necessary right-of-way and construct or reconstruct and maintain as a four-lane highway the following segments of highways:
Central District - Warren, Hinds and Copiah Counties:
Mississippi 27 beginning at its intersection
with I-20 and extending southeasterly to its
intersection with I-55.
Central District - Claiborne, Copiah and Hinds Counties:
Mississippi 18 beginning at its intersection with
U.S. Highway 61 and extending northeasterly to the
point south of Raymond at which Mississippi 18 has
been constructed as a four-lane highway.
Central District - Jefferson and Copiah Counties:
Mississippi 28 beginning at its intersection with Mississippi 33 and extending easterly to its intersection with I-55.
Southern District - Wilkinson, Amite and Pike Counties:
Mississippi 24 beginning at its intersection with
U.S. Highway 61 and extending easterly to
Mississippi 48 at or near Centreville, Mississippi 48
at or near Centreville from Mississippi 24 easterly
to Mississippi 24 at or near Liberty, Mississippi 24 from Mississippi 48 at or near Liberty extending easterly to its intersection with I-55.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
