A RESOLUTION COMMENDING BYHALIA HIGH SCHOOL INDIANS GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON. 

WHEREAS, the Byhalia High School Indians Girls Basketball Team finished the 1997-1998 season with an outstanding record of 26 wins and only six losses, the best seasonal record in the Girls' history; and

WHEREAS, the Indians did very well in the state playoffs, participating in the first round of the North State Championship Games and ranked No. 2 in Division 3 Class 3A in North Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, many individuals have been recognized for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season, including the naming of Tawandra Butler, Samantha Davis, Denetrius Guy and Versheta Jones to the All-Division Team; and

WHEREAS, the team has been led by the senior members of the team including Tawandra Butler, Samantha Davis, Mamie Deberry, Lakeysha Fayne, Bridget Jones, Versheta Jones and Adrian Webb; and

WHEREAS, the Indians have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Charles Cummings who has broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Indians have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coach and bring honor to Byhalia High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate the Byhalia High School Indians Girls Basketball Team and their coach, Head Coach Charles Cummings, for their outstanding 1997-1998 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Byhalia High School, Head Coach Charles Cummings and the Capitol Press Corps.
