A RESOLUTION COMMENDING CAPTAIN KEITH MCCARY FOR RECEIVING THE JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OUTSTANDING YOUNG MISSISSIPPIAN AWARD.
WHEREAS, Captain Keith McCary was named by the Junior Chamber of Commerce as Outstanding Young Mississippian Award for his community involvement in helping people on February 28, 1998; and
WHEREAS, before becoming Captain of Training at the Meridian Police Department, Captain McCary served as a DARE Officer, a K-9 handler, a Juvenile Detective with the Violent Crimes Unit and a Lieutenant in Investigations; and
WHEREAS, Captain McCary serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Meridian Police Benevolent Association, a position he has held since 1995; and
WHEREAS, through the Meridian Police Benevolent Association, Captain McCary has helped numerous people in various programs, most visibly in programs such as Shop With a Cop and association benefit drives; and
WHEREAS, Captain McCary has supported the Wesley House, Christmas food basket programs, youth baseball teams, Newspapers in Education, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Police Camp and the Shop With a Cop program; and
WHEREAS, Captain McCary worked to help the organization donate approximately $10,000 to the programs that he supported as well as other groups; and
WHEREAS, through the Meridian Police Benevolent Association, his church, the Hebron Baptist Church, and his own unselfish nature, Captain McCary has devoted numerous hours and much energy on charitable programs; and
WHEREAS, the Mississippi House of Representatives finds it most appropriate to pay tribute to such an outstanding officer as Captain Keith McCary, who has gone beyond the call of duty as an officer and helped many people through his charity work:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do commend and congratulate Captain Keith McCary for receiving the Junior Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Mississippian Award and extend to him our best of wishes for success in all his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Captain Keith McCary and the Capitol Press Corps.
