A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF MR. DANIEL LEE JENNINGS. 

WHEREAS, a native Mississippian, Mr. Daniel Lee Jennings, was born in Claiborne County, Mississippi, to Sam and Lillie Jennings; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jennings attended school in Memphis, Tennessee, and St. Louis, Missouri, and furthered his education at Fort Stilicum County College, the University of Paget Sound in the State of Washington and Jackson State University; and

WHEREAS, after 21 years of active service, Mr. Jennings retired as one of the most decorated soldiers of the Vietnam War, receiving numerous awards such as the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Avcom, the Cross of the Golentry and the Purple Heart; and

WHEREAS, having a firm belief in God, Mr. Jennings has served as President of the Mississippi Christian Missionary Convention since 1992; and

WHEREAS, always willing to serve his community, Mr. Jennings serves as the county coordinator for Congressman Bennie Thompson of the second district, as the president of the Claiborne County Branch of the NAACP, and as a deacon at the King David Christian Church, where he also serves as Superintendent of the Sunday School; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jennings has served in leadership roles as the former president of the Claiborne County Board of Education and as President of the Claiborne County Democratic Party; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jennings has been lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his beautiful wife, Mary, and their three children, Daniel, Jr., Rufus and Dinah; and

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives believes it to be appropriate to pay special tribute to such an outstanding Mississippian as Mr. Daniel Lee Jennings, who has unselfishly devoted his time and service to his state and country:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend the life and accomplishments of Mr. Daniel Lee Jennings as a war veteran and a leader in his community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Daniel Lee Jennings and the Capitol Press Corps.
