House Resolution 18

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING JUSTICE COURT JUDGE CLYDE CHAPMAN ON BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL JUDGES ASSOCIATION. 

WHEREAS, Hinds County Justice Court Judge Clyde Chapman, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, has been elected to serve as President of the National Judges Association; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, Mr. Chapman furthered his education by earning a degree in history and political science from Jackson State University and has done graduate work at the University of Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman has completed 400 hours of judicial studies from the University of Mississippi and the University of Nevada, where the National Judicial College is located; and

WHEREAS, representing District 5, which includes Terry, part of Utica and downtown Jackson, Mr. Chapman has been a County Justice Court Judge for 14 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman previously served as vice president and then president elect before being named president at the group's educational conference in Kalispell, Montana; and

WHEREAS, as president, Mr. Chapman's top goal is to improve the image of Justice Court Judges through the educational process; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Chapman is lovingly supported in all his endeavors by his lovely wife, Dr. Jasmine Rena Chapman, and two children, Rozelle and Jasmine Ja-Nee; and

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to pay tribute to such an outstanding man as Judge Clyde Chapman, for his years of service to his community as a Justice Court Judge:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we commend and congratulate Hinds County Justice Court Judge Clyde Chapman for being elected president of the National Judges Association and extend to him our heartiest wishes in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Judge Clyde Chapman and the Capitol Press Corps.
