A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF TALMAGE KENNETH "SKIMP" DAVIS OF CHARLESTON AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING. 

WHEREAS, Talmage Kenneth "Skimp" Davis, of Charleston, Mississippi, born on October 14, 1934, departed this life on November 15, 1997, causing great loss to his family and friends; and

WHEREAS, a longtime banking executive, Mr. Davis served as Vice President of Tallahatchie County Bank in Charleston, Mississippi, for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was an active member and leader of several organizations including North Delta Planning and Development, the Mississippi Regulatory Compliance Group, Treasurer of the Tallahatchie County Fair Association and Treasurer of the Charleston Cemetery Association; and

WHEREAS, maintaining perfect attendance for over 30 years, Mr. Davis served as Secretary for the Charleston Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was devoted to church and family serving as a deacon at the Charleston First Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Gloria, and two sons, Talmage Kenneth Davis, Jr., and Michael Keith Davis; and

WHEREAS, the House of Representatives of the State of Mississippi believes that it is most appropriate to pay special tribute to this extraordinary businessman whose honesty, integrity and personality were exemplified in his character throughout his career:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That the life and accomplishments of Talmage Kenneth "Skimp" Davis are hereby memorialized as a true example of the life of a Christian gentleman and a remarkable citizen whose long and distinguished career epitomizes a life rich in achievement and service to his fellowman.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House does hereby express and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the devoted wife and family of Talmage Kenneth "Skimp" Davis for their loss.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Talmage Kenneth "Skimp" Davis and the Capitol Press Corps.
