A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MRS. GLENDA BARNETT FOR HER SELECTION AS MRS. MISSISSIPPI INTERNATIONAL 1997.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Glenda Barnett, a resident of Mendenhall, Mississippi, was named Mrs. Mississippi International 1997; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Barnett attended the Mendenhall Attendance Center, where she actively participated in sports, especially basketball, throughout her school years; and
WHEREAS, with the encouragement of her husband, the lovely and gracious Mrs. Barnett entered her first pageant in April 1997, winning the title of Mrs. Mississippi International; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Barnett also won the awards for Mrs. Photogenic and the Fitness Award in the Mrs. Mississippi International Pageant; and
WHEREAS, representing Mississippi, Mrs. Barnett competed in the national pageant held in Tyler, Texas, where she met special women from all over the country and their families; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Barnett has served her community through visits at St. Catherine's Village for the Elders, the Girls Home and the Women's Shelter; and
WHEREAS, modeling in fashion shows, Mrs. Barnett has been able to participate in fundraisers for the Women's Shelter and for the battered women; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Barnett is lovingly supported by her wonderful husband, Perry, and their four children, Blaine, Paige, Presley and Parris; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it appropriate to pay special tribute to such a remarkable woman as Mrs. Glenda Barnett for her selfless devotion to her family and community:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do commend Mrs. Glenda Barnett on winning the title of Mrs. Mississippi International 1997 and extend to her our best wishes in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Glenda Barnett and the Capitol Press Corps.
