A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION HONORING THE ENGINEERS OF MISSISSIPPI DURING NATIONAL ENGINEERS WEEK. 

WHEREAS, engineers have used their scientific and technical knowledge and skills in creative and innovative ways to fulfill society's needs; and

WHEREAS, engineers face the major technological challenges of our time, from rebuilding towns devastated by natural disasters to designing an information superhighway that will speed our country into the 21st Century; and

WHEREAS, engineers are encouraging our young math and science students to realize the practical power of their knowledge; and

WHEREAS, we will look more than ever to engineers and their knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the future; and

WHEREAS, the week of February 22-28, 1998, has been designated as National Engineers Week:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we honor our engineers during this National Engineers Week, and express our thanks for the many ways in which their work enriches and improves our world.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Engineering Society and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
