House Concurrent Resolution 86

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING FRANK BLUNTSON, JR., ON THE APPRECIATION PROGRAM HELD IN HIS HONOR. 

WHEREAS, Mr. Frank Bluntson, Jr., radio talk show host, has led the Annual Senior Citizens Food Drive for twenty years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bluntson has served as the tenured, popular talk show host for WKXI's "Straight Talk" Program which has served as a community vehicle for open forum discussions concerning politics, economics, social reforms and numerous other vital issues on the local, state and national level; and

WHEREAS, through Mr. Bluntson's genuine and sincere love for mankind, "Straight Talk" has become a dependable and necessary friend to the community; and

WHEREAS, using his outstanding leadership skills, numerous volunteers, family and friends, Mr. Bluntson has been able to offer services to those in need; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bluntson has worked to solicit money to assist families who have been burned out, provide financial assistance for those in need to fund medical treatments and referred individuals to local businesses or services which offer the desired counseling or legal advice; and

WHEREAS, assisting with the sponsorship of the annual one-day health clinic, Mr. Bluntson helps provide medical examinations with complimentary services donated by several volunteer physicians and other medical personnel; and

WHEREAS, in 1977, Mr. Bluntson used the "Straight Talk" forums to conceptualize and begin the annual fund-raiser drive to help the senior citizens of Jackson, Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to pay special tribute to such an unselfish, humble person as Mr. Frank Bluntson, Jr., a man with a vision who dedicated his time and energy to coordinate such a worthy cause for the people of this community:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Mr. Frank Bluntson, Jr., for his remarkable contributions and service to his community and fellowman.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That we congratulate him on the success of the annual fund-raisers he has organized and extend him our heartiest wishes in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Frank Bluntson, Jr., and the Capitol Press Corps.
