House Concurrent Resolution 74

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE KIRK ACADEMY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1997 MPSA STATE AAA CHAMPIONSHIP. 

WHEREAS, the Kirk Academy High School Raiders Football Team finished the 1997-1998 season with an outstanding record of 12 wins which is a school record; and

WHEREAS, the Raiders were excellent in the playoffs breaking a playoff record of three consecutive victories and no losses, winning the MPSA AAA North District Crown for the second consecutive year; and

WHEREAS, the Raiders have been recognized for their hard work, dedication and superior play this season; and

WHEREAS, the Raiders have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Mac Norwood and Assistant Coaches Ray Walton, Scott Martin and Mac McKelroy who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Raiders have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Kirk Academy High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Kirk Academy High School Football Team, Head Coach Mac Norwood and Assistant Coaches Ray Walton, Scott Martin and Mac McKelroy for their remarkable 1997-1998 season, for winning the 1997 MPSA State AAA Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Kirk Academy High School, Head Coach Mac Norwood and Assistant Coaches Ray Walton, Scott Martin and Mac McKelroy.
