House Concurrent Resolution 60

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING MRS. BENNIE EVA GREENE ON THE CELEBRATION OF HER 100TH BIRTHDAY. 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Bennie Eva Greene, one of nine children, was born on February 23, 1898, to the late T. A. and Dora Lee Waddle of Mantachie; and

WHEREAS, on April 9, 1916, Mrs. Greene married Mr. Marvin Greene of Dorsey and they later had two sons, Earnest Lowell Greene and Ellis Noonen Greene; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Greene and her family moved to Tupelo in 1946, where Mr. Greene passed away in 1951 at age 56 and where Mrs. Greene lived at her homeplace until she moved to Cedars Health Center in June of 1993; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Greene is a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Tupelo where she enjoys dedicating her time and energy to working in her church; and

WHEREAS, along with her involvement with her church, Mrs. Greene's hobbies include homemaking, gardening and crochet; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi believes that it is most appropriate to pay special tribute to such a faithful woman as Mrs. Bennie Eva Greene, one who is devoted to her church and family and one who has been an inspiration to others during her life:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby congratulate Mrs. Bennie Eva Greene on the celebration of her 100th birthday, extend to her our heartiest wishes and pray that she will be blessed with peace, happiness and joy.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Bennie Eva Greene and the Capitol Press Corps.
