A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MS. BEBE RICHARDSON ON CELEBRATING HER 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF NURSING.
WHEREAS, Ms. Bebe Richardson, Associate Hospital Director for Patient Care Services at the University Medical Center, is celebrating 45 years of dedication to her career in the field of nursing as a nurse as well as Administrator; and
WHEREAS, immediately upon graduation from Pascagoula High School, Ms. Richardson entered nursing school on September 8, 1949, in the 36-month nursing program at the Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, after Ms. Richardson successfully completed the nursing program, she worked as a pediatric nurse in Jackson's Baptist Hospital during the 1950's when polio patients depended on iron lungs to breathe for them; and
WHEREAS, in her first job at the University Medical Center in 1967, she worked in what was a combination of recovery and intensive care unit, where Ms. Richardson soon became Head Nurse; and
WHEREAS, following her leadership as Head Nurse, Ms. Richardson was promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing, and as the newest Assistant Director, she was named Acting Nursing Director; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Richardson left the University Medical Center after three years of serving as the Acting Nursing Director to become the second Director of Nursing at Women's Hospital; and
WHEREAS, in 1987, Ms. Richardson returned to the University Medical Center, where she is currently serving as their Director of Nursing; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi believes that it is most appropriate to pay special tribute to such a capable and effective administrator who has a wonderful knack for interacting with people as Ms. Bebe Richardson, an example of one who has dedicated her life to helping not only her patients but their families as well:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby congratulate and commend Ms. Bebe Richardson on 45 years of outstanding achievement in her long and distinguished career of nursing and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Ms. Bebe Richardson and the Capitol Press Corps.
