House Concurrent Resolution 34
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF PETER JOSEPH NOTO OF WAVELAND AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, Peter Joseph Noto of Waveland, Mississippi, a veteran law enforcement officer, departed this life on October 31, 1997, causing great loss to his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, having been raised in Waveland, Mr. Noto attended school at St. Stanislaus, where he actively participated in all sports; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Noto who was retired from Louisville Nashville Railroad, also served as a deputy for the Hancock County Sheriff's Department, as a constable for Hancock County District One and for the last two years, as a bailiff for Hancock County; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his remarkable contributions to the field of law enforcement, Pete Noto honorably sought to help many of those less fortunate by distributing food and providing shelter; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Noto was very active in community organizations including St. Clare Catholic Church, St. Vincent De Paul Society, Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society and Miller's Social Club; and
WHEREAS, Pete Noto is survived by his children, Peter "Pedro" Noto, Shirley Noto Corr, Gloria Noto Cook, Ruth Noto Herron and Arthemese "Mesie" Noto Pope, three brothers, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi believes that it is most appropriate to pay special tribute to this exemplary Mississippian who generously contributed his time and resources to improving the quality of life for those around him:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That the life and accomplishments of Mr. Peter Joseph Noto are hereby memorialized by the State of Mississippi as a true example of a humble and unselfish servant whose long and distinguished career epitomizes a life rich in achievement and service to his fellowman.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Legislature does hereby express and extend our heartfelt sympathy to the devoted family of Mr. Peter Joseph Noto for their loss.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Peter Joseph Noto and the Capitol Press Corps.
