House Concurrent Resolution 12

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING COACH BRUCE THORNTON ON LEADING THE GEORGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM TO WIN THE 1996 CLASS 4-A SOUTH STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. 

WHEREAS, Coach Bruce Thornton led the George County High School Rebels through a 30-win season and the first ever 1996 Class 4-A South State Baseball Championship in George County baseball history; and

WHEREAS, Coach Thornton graduated from George County High School in 1985; and

WHEREAS, Coach Thornton took over in mid-season in 1996 for Coach Scott Bray after serving as Coach Bray's top assistant for the better part of four years and has been an absolutely phenomenal replacement; and

WHEREAS, Coach Thornton has given his constant support, encouragement and leadership to the George County High School Rebels and is a Mississippian of whom we all can be proud:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Coach Bruce Thornton on leading the George County High School Baseball Team to win the 1996 Class 4-A South State Baseball Championship and for displaying tireless devotion in his athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Bruce Thornton, George County High School and to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
