AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF MACON, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT, IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER ASSESSMENTS AND COURT COSTS, FOR EACH MISDEMEANOR CASE PROCESSED THROUGH THE MUNICIPAL COURT OF THE CITY; TO PROVIDE THAT THE AVAILS OF SUCH ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT SHALL BE USED TO FUND GOLDEN TRIANGLE CRIMESTOPPERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The governing authorities of the City of Macon, Mississippi, in their discretion, are authorized, by resolution duly adopted and entered on the minutes of the governing authorities, to levy an assessment, in addition to any other assessments and court costs, in the amount of Fifty Cents (504) per case for each misdemeanor case processed through the municipal court of such city.

(2) The avails of the additional assessment imposed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be paid by the city to Golden Triangle Crimestoppers for use in procuring information to aid authorities in the capture and conviction of persons committing crimes in Macon, Mississippi.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
