AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE TOWN OF BROOKSVILLE, MISSISSIPPI, TO LEVY AN ASSESSMENT, IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER ASSESSMENTS AND COURT COSTS, FOR EACH MISDEMEANOR CASE FILED IN ITS MUNICIPAL COURT; TO PROVIDE THAT THE AVAILS OF SUCH ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT SHALL BE DISTRIBUTED TO GOLDEN TRIANGLE CRIME STOPPERS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The governing authorities of the Town of Brooksville, Mississippi, in their discretion, are authorized, by resolution duly adopted and entered on the minutes of the governing authorities, to levy an assessment, in addition to any other assessments and court costs, not to exceed Fifty Cents (504) per case, for each misdemeanor case filed in the municipal court of the Town of Brooksville.

(2) The avails of the additional assessment imposed pursuant to subsection (1) of this section shall be distributed by the Town of Brooksville to Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers to be used in providing incentives to procure information about crimes and capturing and convicting criminals.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
