AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL ALLOWANCE TO DEFRAY OFFICE EXPENSES OF THE COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY; TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY TO EMPLOY A PART-TIME ASSISTANT COUNTY PROSECUTING ATTORNEY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, may, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, pay to the county prosecuting attorney an additional allowance, not to exceed Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) per month, to defray office expenses.

(2) The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, may, by resolution duly adopted and entered on its minutes, provide for and employ one (1) part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney and pay such person an annual compensation not to exceed Twenty-nine Thousand Dollars ($29,000.00). If the board of supervisors employs a part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney pursuant to this subsection (2), the board of supervisors shall pay such person, in addition to annual compensation, the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per month for the purpose of defraying secretarial expenses. The part-time assistant county prosecuting attorney shall have the qualifications of a county prosecuting attorney as provided by law.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
