AN ACT TO DECLARE SOUTH INDUSTRIAL PARK IN LAUDERDALE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO BE AN INDUSTRIAL PARK OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI; TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF MERIDIAN AND LAUDERDALE COUNTY TO JOINTLY ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT TO CARRY OUT, AND TO COMPLETE, DRAINAGE AND FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE COMPLETE DEVELOPMENT OF SOUTH INDUSTRIAL PARK; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The property known as South Industrial Park located outside the city limits of the City of Meridian, Mississippi, adjacent to Sowashee Creek in Lauderdale County, Mississippi, is declared to be an industrial park of the City of Meridian.
SECTION 2. The City of Meridian is authorized to sell any of the property in South Industrial Park.
SECTION 3. The City of Meridian is authorized to apply the proceeds of any sale of the property in South Industrial Park for general city purposes, as may be determined by the governing authorities of the city.
SECTION 4. The City of Meridian and Lauderdale County are authorized and empowered to jointly enter into an agreement to carry out, and to complete, drainage and flood control projects that are essential to the complete development of South Industrial Park.
SECTION 5. Purchases made by the City of Meridian and Lauderdale County in carrying out the purposes of this act shall comply with the provisions of Chapter 7, Title 31, Mississippi Code of 1972, regarding public purchases, and all contracts for services, including professional services, made under this act shall be advertised, bid and accepted in accordance with the same procedure as prescribed for the advertisement and acceptance of bids for the purchase of commodities and contracts for public purchases under Chapter 7, Title 31, Mississippi Code of 1972. For the purposes of this section, "professional services" includes, but is not limited to, services provided by attorneys, accountants, architects, engineers, appraisers, or real estate brokers.
SECTION 6. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
