AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 1017, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1996, TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE OXFORD-LAFAYETTE COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION DURING THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1997, AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1998; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Chapter 1017, Local and Private Laws of 1996, is amended as follows:

Section 1. The Board of Supervisors of Lafayette County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may contribute to the Oxford-Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation, or to any other corporation, foundation, organization, association or groups, from any available funds, a sum of money not to exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) per fiscal year for each of the following fiscal years: October 1, 1996, to September 30, 1997; October 1, 1997, to September 30, 1998; October 1, 1998, to September 30, 1999; and October 1, 1999, to September 30, 2000. In addition to any amount authorized in this section, the Board of Supervisors of Lafayette County, in its discretion, may contribute to the Oxford-Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation, from any available funds, a sum of money not to exceed Twenty-eight Thousand Dollars ($28,000.00) during the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1997, and ending September 30, 1998.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
