AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY OF RIPLEY, MISSISSIPPI, TO ESTABLISH A PROGRAM FOR THE COLLECTION OF VOLUNTARY DONATIONS TO THE GOOD SAMARITAN PROGRAM THROUGH THE CITY'S MUNICIPAL UTILITY BILLING SYSTEM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Ripley, Mississippi, in their discretion, by resolution duly adopted and entered on the minutes of the governing authorities, may establish a program within the administration of the municipal utility billing system for the collection of voluntary donations to assist indigent persons within the City of Ripley. Under the program, the City of Ripley may accept donations to the Good Samaritan Program with the payment of municipal utility bills from customers of the city's municipal utilities. Any funds collected by the city through the program shall be accounted for and transmitted to the Good Samaritan Program in accordance with such procedures set forth in the resolution establishing the program.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
