AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 37-102-11, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO CLARIFY THAT EXISTING FACILITIES ON THE GROUNDS OF UNIVERSITY OFF-CAMPUS SITES MAY BE USED AS DORMITORIES FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS ENROLLED AT THE OFF-CAMPUS SITE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 37-102-11, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

37-102-11. Extracurricular items such as dormitories, gymnasiums, stadiums, and such related items shall not be constructed for use by off-campus sites of universities. However, any facility existing on January 1, 1998, on the grounds of an off-campus site of a university, which is designed and equipped for overnight lodging without any additional construction or renovation, may be used as a dormitory for the housing of full-time students enrolled at the off-campus site.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
