AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-3-73, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO DELETE THE REQUIREMENT THAT STATE EMPLOYEES BE PAID ON A DELAYED BASIS BEGINNING IN JANUARY 1999; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 25-3-73, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

25-3-73. From and after January 1, 1999, all state and nonstate service employees, as defined in Section 25-9-107, shall be paid * * * twice a month. If such employees' payday falls on a state holiday as set forth in Section 3-3-7, or on a Saturday or Sunday, such employees shall be paid on the working day preceding such holiday, Saturday or Sunday.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
