AN ACT TO DEDICATE THE UNITED STATES NAVY RESERVE CENTER AS THE MISSISSIPPI UNITED STATES NAVY AND MARINE CORPS FLEET SAILOR AND MARINE MEMORIAL MUSEUM; TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF ARCHIVES AND HISTORY SHALL ESTABLISH AND ADMINISTER THE MUSEUM; TO AUTHORIZE THE DEPARTMENT OF ARCHIVES AND HISTORY TO RECEIVE AND EXPEND FUNDS FROM OTHER SOURCES FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE MUSEUM; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) After the United States Naval Center located at 180 Jefferson Street, Jackson, Mississippi, and the property on which the center is located reverts to the State of Mississippi, the center shall be dedicated as the Mississippi United States Navy and Marine Corps Fleet Sailor and Marine Memorial Museum.
(2) The museum shall be established and administered by the Department of Archives and History. The department may receive and expend any contributions, donations, bequests, grants or funds from any other sources for the support of the museum.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
