AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 25-3-73, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO REQUIRE EMPLOYEES OF THE STATE FORESTRY COMMISSION TO BE PAID ONCE A MONTH; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 25-3-73, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

(1) Except as otherwise provided under subsection (2) of this section, from and after January 1, 1999, all state and nonstate service employees, as defined in Section 25-9-107, shall be paid on a delayed basis twice a month. If such employees' payday falls on a state holiday, as set forth in Section 3-3-7, or on a Saturday or Sunday, such employees shall be paid on the working day preceding such holiday, Saturday or Sunday.

(2) From and after January 1, 1999, all employees of the State Forestry Commission shall be paid once a month. If such employees' payday falls on a state holiday, as set forth in Section 3-3-7, or on a Saturday or Sunday, such employees shall be paid on the working day immediately preceding the holiday, Saturday or Sunday.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
