House Bill 726

AN ACT TO ALLOW THE STATE FORESTRY COMMISSION TO SELL CERTAIN LAND LOCATED IN GEORGE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; TO PROVIDE THAT THE REVENUE DERIVED FROM THE SALE IS TO BE DEPOSITED INTO A SPECIAL FUND FOR USE BY THE MISSISSIPPI FORESTRY COMMISSION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Mississippi Forestry Commission, through the Department of Finance and Administration and upon meeting the requirements of Section 29-1-1, may sell a ten-acre parcel of land located in George County, Mississippi, the property being more particularly described as follows:

S 1/2 of NE 1/4 of SE 1/4 of NE 1/4 and S 1/2 of NW 1/4 of SE 1/4 of NE 1/4 of Section Three (3), Township Two (2) South, Range Seven (7) West.

(2) Before the Mississippi Forestry Commission may sell the real estate described in subsection (1) of this section, the fair market value of the real estate shall be determined by averaging at least three (3) appraisals done by Mississippi certified general appraisers. The cost of the appraisals shall be paid for by the commission out of any monies appropriated for such purposes by the Legislature or any monies derived from other sources.

SECTION 2. The proceeds derived from the sale of the land described in Section 1 of this act shall be deposited into a special fund in the State Treasury to be used by the Mississippi Forestry Commission as appropriated by the Legislature.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
