AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO ENTER VACANT OR ABANDONED PROPERTY TO ARREST OR REMOVE VAGRANTS FROM THE PROPERTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Law enforcement officers may enter any abandoned or vacant property to arrest or remove any vagrant, as defined in Section 97-35-37, who is located on the property. Prior written permission by the owner to enter the property is not needed to allow a law enforcement officer to enter abandoned or vacant property in order to investigate possible vagrancy.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
