AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS TO PROVIDE EXTENDED DAY AND EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAMS FOR KINDERGARTEN CHILDREN AND COMPULSORY-SCHOOL-AGE STUDENTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The school board of any local school district, in its discretion, may provide extended day and extended school year programs for kindergarten children and compulsory-school-age students and may expend any funds for these purposes which are available from nonminimum program sources. A school board, in its discretion, may charge fees for participants in the extended day and extended school year programs.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
