AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SUPREME COURT FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE EXPENSES OF THE TEEN COURT PILOT PROGRAM IN THE YOUTH COURT IN CERTAIN COUNTIES FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi State Supreme Court for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the teen court pilot program operated by the youth court in certain counties for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30,

1999 $88,000.00.

SECTION 2. The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act is for the purpose of providing additional funding to the youth courts in Harrison, Hinds, Rankin and Bolivar Counties to defray the expenses of operating the teen court program authorized under the Teen Court Pilot Program Act (Sections 43-21-751 through

43-21-755, Mississippi Code of 1972). Of the funds appropriated under the provisions of Section 1, the amounts stated in this section shall be allocated to the youth court division of the chancery, county or family court, whichever the case may be, strictly for the purpose of defraying the operating expenses of the teen court program in the following counties:

(a) Harrison $22,000.00

(b) Hinds 22,000.00

(c) Rankin 22,000.00

(d) Bolivar 22,000.00

Total $88,000.00

SECTION 3. The money appropriated by Section 1 of this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1998.
