MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE

WHEREAS, the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady

Wolves Basketball Team finished the 1996-1997 season with an outstanding record of 29 wins and 5 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves competed in and won the MACJC State Championship and the NJCAA Region 23 Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves also competed in the NJCAA National Tournament and acquitted themselves well; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves have displayed excellent talent as a team and as individuals with specific honors awarded to: Demetrics Cain: All-Tournament (Region 23), All-Region (23) and 1st Team All-State; Chassity Cubie: All-Tournament (Region 23) and 1st Team All-State; Clarissa Tomlinson: 2nd Team All-State; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Gwyn Young and by Student Assistant Mickey Wallis, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and an excellent degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Copiah-Lincoln Community College; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves Basketball Team and Head Coach Gwyn Young for their outstanding 1996-1997 season and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Coach Gwyn Young, and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
