Senate Concurrent Resolution 615

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION TO COMMEND THE SCOTT CENTRAL LADY REBELS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1996-1997 SEASON. 

WHEREAS, the Scott Central Lady Rebels Basketball Team finished the 1996-1997 season with an outstanding record of 26 wins and 10 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels took the Scott County Championship and, in strongly competitive playing, were runners-up in the Division 8-1A Tournament, third place finishers in the South State Class 1A Tournament and fifth place finishers in the State Class 1A Tournament; and

WHEREAS, several Lady Rebels were awarded individual honors, including Sharae Brown who was named All-State, All-South State, All-District and to the Scott County Tournament Team; Ellake Murray who was named All-South State, All-District and Scott County Tournament Most Valuable Player; and Louise Sharpe and Nakenjie Burks who were named to the Scott County Tournament Team; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Rebels have been ably coached by Coach Chad Harrison and assisted by Managers Lakesha Sharpe, Porsha Sharpe, Diane Black and Erica Brantley; and

WHEREAS, the winning spirit and sportsmanship of the Lady Rebels reflect great credit upon all who are involved with the team; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to recognize and commend excellence:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we hereby commend the Scott Central Lady Rebels Basketball Team for their outstanding 1996-1997 season.
