Senate Concurrent Resolution 590

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING SOUTH PONTOTOC HIGH SCHOOL ON ATTAINING LEVEL 5 ACCREDITATION FOR THE 1996-1997 SCHOOL YEAR. 

WHEREAS, South Pontotoc High School has traditionally demonstrated the highest qualities of academic excellence; and

WHEREAS, South Pontotoc High School has a student population of over 600 outstanding students in Grades 7 through 12; and

WHEREAS, the faculty, administration and staff at South Pontotoc High School consistently challenge their students to achieve the very best in academics; and

WHEREAS, during the 1996-1997 school year, South Pontotoc High School attained a student performance index rating of 5.0, thereby receiving an accreditation level of 5.0, the highest accreditation rating a school can receive and one reached by only 12 school districts in the entire state; and

WHEREAS, under the dedicated leadership and administration of Principal Adam Pugh, the South Pontotoc High School faculty and staff, Superintendent Jerry Horton and the Pontotoc County School District School Board, chaired by Mr. Ken Roye, the school has achieved high academic performance while keeping the tax burden low on the citizens of the county; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi believes that it is most appropriate to pay special recognition to students, teachers, administrators, staff, school board members and parents of the Pontotoc County School District who show a commitment to educational excellence for the public schools of their county and state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the South Pontotoc High School on attaining Level 5 accreditation for the 1996-1997 school year.
