Senate Concurrent Resolution 551

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PRENTISS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING 1996-1997 SEASON.
WHEREAS, the Prentiss High School football team completed the 1996-1997 season with an enviable record of 12 wins and 2 losses; and
WHEREAS, the Bulldogs capped the 1996-1997 season by winning the South Mississippi State 3A Championship and finishing in second place at the State 3A Championship; and
WHEREAS, the diligent effort of these fine young men enabled them to fully tap their athletic abilities and achieve their season objectives; and
WHEREAS, the superb play of the team should be attributed to all team members, including Michael Gholar (Clarion-Ledger All-State Team); Michael Caraway (All-Metro Team, Scholarship to Alcorn State University); Lakendrick Smith (Scholarship to Alcorn State University); and Corey Brown (Scholarship to Alcorn State University); and
WHEREAS, the Prentiss High School Bulldogs were well coached by Coach Alvin Gray and Assistant Coaches Johnny Brister, Delton Eubanks, Richard Saul and Maurice Price, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Bulldogs played together as a team with a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend the outstanding achievements of the youth of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Prentiss High School football team for its outstanding 1996-1997 season.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Prentiss High School and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
