AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE LEGISLATURE SHALL APPROPRIATE A $2400 INCREASE TO THE BASE SALARY FOR ALL STATE EMPLOYEES WHO DID NOT RECEIVE ANY SALARY INCREASE IN FY 94, 95, AND 96, AS A RESULT OF REALIGNMENT OF JOB CLASS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Legislature shall appropriate funds sufficient to provide a Two Thousand Four Hundred Dollar ($2,400.00) increase to the base salary for all state employees effective July 1, 1997, who did not receive any salary increase as a result of job class realignments which were authorized by the Legislature in appropriation acts for fiscal years 1994, 1995 and 1996.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
