AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 4, SENATE BILL NO. 3074, 1996 REGULAR SESSION, TO CLARIFY THE AUTHORIZATION OF FUNDS APPROPRIATED TO THE ALCORN STATE UNIVERSITY SMALL FARM DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN FISCAL YEAR 1997; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 4, Senate Bill No. 3074, 1996 Regular Session, is amended as follows:

Section 4. Of the funds appropriated under the provisions of Sections 1 and 2, the following amounts, or so much thereof as may be necessary shall be expended for the purposes hereinafter set forth:

(a) For the support of the Small Farm Development Center at Alcorn State University, the sum of $ 517,323.00

Of the funds allocated to the Small Farm Development Center, the amount of One Hundred Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($125,000.00) shall be used as authorized in Section 37-101-25, Mississippi Code of 1972, to provide financial assistance to small entrepreneurs.

(b) For the support of the Cooperative Extension Program services provided by Alcorn State University, the sum of . . . . .

(c) For the support of the Agriculture and Forestry Experiment Station services provided by Alcorn State University, the sum of $ 261,009.00

(d) For the support of the Swine Development Center, the sum of $ 250,000.00

(e) For the support of the Mississippi River Research Center services provided by Alcorn State University, for the sum of

$ 50,000.00

(f) For the support of the Small Farm Development Center and other agricultural activities and programs at Alcorn State University, the sum of $ 2,481,433.00

Of the funds appropriated in Sections 1 and 2, and allocated in Section 4(f), so much as may be necessary, but not to exceed One Hundred Twenty-nine Thousand Three Hundred Sixteen Dollars ($129,316.00) shall be expended to defray the cost of establishing a vegetable demonstration unit in Quitman County.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
