AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 29-3-91, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROVIDE THAT THE LOCAL BOARD MAY GRANT AN EASEMENT OR RIGHT-OF-WAY ACROSS SIXTEENTH SECTION OR LIEU LAND TO THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SUCH COUNTY WITHOUT RECEIVING COMPENSATION THEREFOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 29-3-91, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

Provided, however, that the board of education may, when it determines that it is in the best interest of the school district, grant an easement or right-of-way across any sixteenth section land or lieu land to the board of supervisors of the county in which such land is located, without the necessity of receiving any compensation therefor.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
