AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING TO NAME AN ANNEX OR WING OF THE CHILDREN'S CANCER CLINIC AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN MEMORY OF FORMER HOUSE SPEAKER BUDDY NEWMAN'S SON, CLARENCE BENTON "BUDDY" NEWMAN, JUNIOR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning shall name an annex or wing of the Children's Cancer Clinic at the University Hospital in memory of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Buddy Newman's son, Clarence Benton "Buddy" Newman, Junior, who died of cancer on August 5, 1955, at the age of nine (9).

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
