AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 93-19-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO PROHIBIT REMOVAL OF THE DISABILITY OF MINORITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF EMPLOYMENT FOR ANY NUDE OR NEARLY NUDE PERFORMANCE; TO ENACT A PROHIBITION AGAINST EMPLOYMENT OF ANY MINOR TO PERFORM NUDE OR NEARLY NUDE; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Section 93-19-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:

93-19-9. The decree may be for the partial removal of the disability of the minor so as to enable him to do some particular act proposed to be done and specified in the decree; or it may be general, and empower him to do all acts in reference to his property, and making contracts, and suing and being sued, and engaging in any profession or avocation, which he could do if he were twenty-one (21) years of age; and the decree made shall distinctly specify to what extent the disability of the minor is removed, and what character of acts he is empowered to perform notwithstanding his minority, and may impose such restrictions and qualifications as the court may adjudge proper, provided that the court shall not remove the disability of any minor so as to empower him to be employed to perform nude or partially nude in any business establishment, and any decree rendered by any court of this state for the removal of the disability of a minor shall be ineffective to permit such employment of any minor.

SECTION 2. No person under the age of twenty-one (21) shall work or perform in any establishment, nude or nearly nude, in a manner or attire as to expose any portion of the pubic area, buttocks, anus, anal cleft, vulva or genitals, or any simulation thereof, or show the covered male genitals in a discernible turgid state, or be attired in a manner as to expose to view the portion of the breast below the top of the areola or any simulation thereof.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
