AN ACT TO REQUIRE CONFIDENTIALITY OF MEDICAL AND INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS CONCERNING CASES OF RAPE OR OTHER SEXUAL CRIMES.  

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) Whenever any statute of this state, or any ordinance or resolution of a municipal corporation or county, or any rule of an administrative agency, requires medical practitioners or other persons to report cases of rape or other sexual crimes to any governmental agency or officer, such reports shall be confidential.

(2) The identity of any individual contained in an investigation conducted pursuant to a report of rape or other sexual crimes shall be confidential, and such identity shall not be disclosed in any action of any kind.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
