AN ACT TO PROHIBIT CANCELLATION OR NONRENEWAL OF PROPERTY AND CASUALTY INSURANCE BECAUSE OF A CLAIM FOR DAMAGES RESULTING FROM AN ACT OF GOD; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.  

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. No insurer may cancel or refuse to renew a property and casualty insurance policy because the insured files a claim with that insurer for damages resulting from an act of God.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
