Senate Bill 2087

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT THE SALE, TRANSFER, MANUFACTURE, DISTRIBUTION, DISPENSING OR POSSESSION OF "MIFEPRISTONE (RU 486)" AND TO PRESCRIBE CRIMINAL PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES. 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. It is unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally to use, sell, barter, transfer, manufacture, distribute, dispense or possess with intent to use, sell, barter, transfer, manufacture, distribute or dispense, Mifepristone (RU 486), more specifically described as "Norsteroid Compound Progesterone Receptorantagonist." Any person who violates this section is guilty of a felony and upon conviction may be imprisoned in the State Penitentiary for not more than three (3) years and shall be fined not less than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) nor more than Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00), or both.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1997.
